Yep, that's also why the show naturally devolves into Ted falling into a deep, terrifying depression by season 2 because even though there is this hidden (or not so hidden depending on how you look at it) agenda to defang traditional masculinity, you can not write a drama without showing the truth or it all falls apart.

Thus by season 2, he is a neurotic mess being targeted by someone he saw a good thing in and tried to help while succumbing to full-blown panic attacks.

I'll add one more piece to this excellent piece as a Catholic Man myself, I have a calling to be the best protector and provider I can be, that is part of me following God, and honoring my future wife and family. The world has gone to war with this but can not change our nature. This too shall pass. The world they are trying to build is simply unsustainable.
