Interesting article; this point goes beyond the topic at hand; this is the same part of the world that still enslaves people and throws men off roofs for being gay. As you imply, this adds fuel to that crazy fire.
I'm hoping that the solution to this problem is twofold. A) Raising awareness that this is a thing might eventually lead to a place whereby default, we no longer assume nudes of anyone is actually real. B) Someone makes an app that scans and tells if a photo is fake. Kind of a silly one, but it might bring some of the victims to comfort to be able to share proof that these vile things are fakes.
