I remember back when I first started Art School, they kept recommending this book called “Art & Fear”. I went to Barnes & Noble looking for a copy and instead what I found was such a sad thing. The opening chapter talks about artists of old who believed in God and thus their Art was a result of their outpouring of Faith, then abruptly turns 180 saying that us modern people do not have such a luxury anymore because we know God isn’t real.
I put the book down and never looked back. This is why so many people in the Art Community are so lost. And I might add, why their work feels and seems so meaningless. The true irony is the work I made in school people loved the most was always secretly about Jesus.
